The White Wires "Roxanne"

Roughly a third of the posts made on this damn thing have something to do with THE WHITE WIRES. This one is no different. They have just posted a new song called "Roxanne" that will be on their new lp when it comes out. "Roxanne" is a pure power pop hit that could have came out in '81 and been on the soundtrack to some summer time romp where some kid from the wrong side of the tracks tries to win over the girl that he works with at the ice cream stand in the rich people's mall that he has to take the bus to and has to crawl through a fence and walk through a field to get to work everyday. They are nailing the whole power pop/new wave sound and I'm loving it! The mighty DIRTNAP RECORDS will be putting the record out hopefully in time to be in heavy rotation this summer!

RRPP: BACK WITH A BANG!

ON APRIL 29TH ROCK N' ROLL PIZZA PARTY IS BACK WlITH A BANG!

RRPP is heading back to Elgin St. This time instead of being stuck in a basement, we're literally moving up in the world. This time it's just up a flight of stairs to NINE (IX) NIGHTCLUB. You've probably never been there before so you get to party at a whole new bar! Exciting! It's looking like it's going to be a pretty cool spot. It's got a couple of floors, several bars and it has a PATIO! Holy shit! What better way to spend the hot summer nights then chilling out on that bad boy. PLUS, we're going back to our regular pizza that we used to get delivered back in the Bytown days. We're really really excited about getting the party started so we've invited a couple of our friends to play.

YEAR ZERO
These guys are one of best new bands in the city. They released an excellent tape on Bruised Tongue and have an amazing lp coming out soon on P.Trash/Shooting At Decoys. They played several of their early shows at RRPP both at the Dirty Oak as well as The Atomic Rooster so it only makes sense for them to help us break in our new digs.

THE VISITORS
This band could probably be considered RRPP house band. Way back in March of 2008 they played their cd release show at RRPP at the Bytown and since then have played tons of shows (many of them at RRPP) as well as put out an amazing 7". They also have an upcoming 12" on Going Gaga records and a huge show opening for Screeching Weasel in Toronto. This band rules and if you don't like them you need a lobotomy.

The Walnut Kids!

THE WALNUT KIDS are from Montreal. They play a mix of late 70's/early 80's power punk like THE BOYS and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS with a bit of a rock n' roll twist to it. They have just released an amazing 7" called "Can't Stand 'Em" on the almighty GOING GAGA record label. The three songs on this record rip hard.

To commemorate the occasion they are playing a show at BORED TO DEATH this Friday April 4th. I'm really excited to see them again. I caught the last 3 songs of their set a few weeks ago and they were incredible. Definitely do not miss this show. For $3 bucks you'll see THE WALNUT KIDS and hang out and listen to great punk rock and power pop spun by four DJ's with great record collections.

BORED TO DEATH happens on the second Friday of every month in the basement of Ritual at 137 Besserer St at the corner of Besserer and Dalhousie St.
